What should I do right now?

Most medication problems in Cartagena do not need a $600 home visit. Start here — we'll point you to emergency care, a pharmacy, or a psychiatrist only if you need one.

Educational guidance only — not medical advice. PsychNow is a marketplace that connects you with independently licensed physicians. We are not a hospital, IPS, or crisis line.

1

I'm unsafe or in crisis

If you are suicidal, can't keep yourself safe, or need urgent medical care, do not use this website. Call Colombia's emergency line or go to the nearest emergency room now. Home-country lines (US 988, UK 111, etc.) do not dispatch help in Colombia.

Call 123 (Colombia)

PsychNow is for non-emergency psychiatric consultations only.

Find a local crisis helpline

If you can safely use the internet, the International Association for Suicide Prevention lists country helplines worldwide.

I forgot or can't get my medication

Many psychiatric medications are sold at Colombian pharmacies without a home visit. Check your drug first — free, no account.

Pharmacy how-to (Cartagena)

If your medication is OTC or “pharmacy OK,” try a major chain before requesting a doctor.

Reliable chains

  • Farmatodo
  • Cruz Verde
  • La Rebaja

Bring with you

  • Passport (pharmacies often ask for ID)
  • Original bottle or a clear photo of the label
  • The generic name if your US brand differs

Useful Spanish phrases

  • Necesito [nombre del medicamento], por favor.

    I need [medication name], please.

  • ¿Lo tienen genérico?

    Do you have the generic?

  • Es para la ansiedad / el sueño / el TDAH.

    It's for anxiety / sleep / ADHD.

Pharmacy stockouts happen. PsychNow cannot fix inventory — if the pharmacy is out, ask when they'll restock or try another branch.

4

I need a controlled medication / a doctor at my door

Xanax, Klonopin, Ritalin, Ambien, and similar require an in-person Recetario Oficial. Pharmacies will not sell them without it. If that's you, request a visit.
